Beware Cowboy Installers

With the Digital Switchover fast approaching, we feel it is necessary to warn people about the ever increasing amount of cowboys that are coming into the trade in order to earn a few quid without having any formal qualifications, training or worthwhile experience in the trade.

Below is a guidleine of what you, the paying public can do , To not only protect yourselves from these cowboys, but everyone else you know who could be vulnerable

All reputable Aerial and Satellite Installers will be full members of either the RDI or the CAI. members of both organisations always carry ID cards which can be verified by contacting both the RDI and the CAI. (See the phone numbers below)

Our advice to everyone having Aerial and Satellite work done on their homes is to insist on seeing these ID cards, and then contacting either the RDI or the CAI in order to ensure that your Aerial or Satellite works is being conducted in a professional manner by a Professional.

Both RDI and CAI members have public Liabilty Insurance of a minimum £2m in the event that should an accident happen, they are covered.

Under no circumstances should people accept non CAI or RDI Identification cards unless they are happy to have work carried out on their property by someone who in most cases will not be qualified. Just because the person at your door may be installing on behalf of a big company or a local Authority, there are no guarantees that they are qualified to do the job. With the amount of Transmitters in and around the Stoke area, it is even more vital that people use their Local installers as they know the area and the transmitter that you should be lined up on.

WHY use a RDI Licensed Installer?

Professional Standards

You should use a licensed installer because they are both skilled and qualified to make digital TV reception installations. Digital TV reception requires higher skill levels to both install and diagnose reception problems.

A registered installer will have these skills and has been assessed to prove his competence in this field. Higher level installers will also be qualifed to work on commercially complex systems.

'Safe, insured and checked'

In addition to competence we value responsible installers. Therefore you should choose a licensed installer because they must be certified to safely work at heights, carry a minimum of £2million public liability insurance and have undergone a criminal record check within the past 24 months.
Only qualified registered members have the right to use the Digital Tick certification mark!
